North Indian Wedding Traditions: – North Indian weddings have definitely cast its magic spell all around the world. Surprisingly many north Indian customs like Mehendi and Sangeet is being inherited in many South Indian Marriages. Not only the opulence of traditions and customs are embraced but also the elaborate wedding clothes seem to be geared up with many parts of India.

Designing the dream wedding with the north Indian tradition allows the individuals to enjoy the rich rituals and customs. Like any other community, every single custom and practice followed in the north Indian wedding has a rooted spiritual and philosophical significance. The grand rituals filled with royal grandeur, vivid colors and happiness are acknowledged by the name ‘Vivah’.

The multi-day affair starts with Sagai. Sagai is an Indian wedding ritual that precedes the wedding, Mehendi party is celebrated to sign off the evil eyes, Sangeet is more of a get together to enjoy the music, dance and it is more of a stress buster, Baraat and Tika Ceremony – formal procession of welcoming the bride’s family, Jai Mala or Var Mala Ceremony- exchanging the garlands, Pheras- signifying the big Mangalsutra event, Vidaai –the emotional movement of sending the bride to the groom’s house. The wedding rituals may vary from caste to caste but the proceeding prominence will have their own sequence.
